🎶 Sound, Soul & Santoor: A Glimpse into India’s Deeper Rhythms with Ustad Nawab Khan

This week on the podcast, I had the joy of sitting down with a man whose life is truly music in motion — Ustad Nawab Khan, a ninth-generation classical musician from Jodhpur, India. Our conversation was not just about notes and melodies, but about healing, lineage, and the deeper language of sound that connects us all.

We first connected through a mutual friend in France (thank you, Martina!), and what began as a simple introduction quickly unfolded into something far more meaningful — a partnership that is now part of my India 2026 journey.

🎵 Meet the Maestro of the Santoor

Nawab is a globally recognized artist, composer, and music therapist. His instrument of choice? The Santoor — an ancient, 100-stringed instrument with Persian roots and a sound that resonates deep in the heart. While I’m familiar with instruments like the violin and cello, the Santoor is something else entirely. It doesn’t just play music — it evokes something sacred.

What’s remarkable is Nawab’s presence. Despite being fresh off a European tour and constantly in demand, he made time to speak with grace and intention about the work that truly matters to him: Raaga Science.

🌅 What Is Raaga Science?

We dove into the concept of Raaga Science, which Nawab founded as a way to bring people into direct relationship with the healing power of sound and classical Indian music. It’s more than a festival — it’s an immersive retreat set in the countryside outside of Jodhpur.

Through sunrise and sunset ragas, deep listening sessions, and teachings rooted in Naad Yoga (the yoga of sound), Raaga Science offers a reset for your nervous system, your heart, and your soul.

Nawab’s mission is clear: to use the universal language of music to heal, transform, and uplift — and to invite others into that sacred space.

✨ Why This Matters for Your Journey

This is not your average trip to India. If you’re joining me in February 2026, you’ll get to experience something most travelers don’t even know exists. This 3.5-day festival will be one of the emotional and energetic highlights of our journey — a time to reconnect, realign, and remember what it feels like to truly listen.
